Race Halfling (Gry Online EQ2)

September 11th, 2007

Halflings……AKA Hobbits…..AKA Shire folk blah blah. Everyone has seen the Lord of the Rings movies, and if you ever wanted to live the exciting life of Samwise Gamgee…….now is your chance!

However, going above and beyond typical LOTR lore, you don’t have to be a fat subservient gardener/indentured servant to a shrill-voiced weakling hobbit who foolishly insists on carrying a 2 ton piece of jewelry around his neck.

That being said, if you follow a traditional Halfling EQ2 path, you’ll utilize stealth as a scout or go the heavenly route healing other citizens of your fair city as a Priest. Or you can buck the trend altogether and be a halfling fighter bashing monsters in their nether regions with spiked clubs until they eventually drop to their knees where you can deliver a final crushing blow to their cranium. Heck, it’s up to you…….but one things for sure you’ll kick a lot more ass than Samwise Gamgee ever did no matter your chosen profession.

Considering these little fellows are firmly embedded in fantasy lore as the most amiable race imaginable, it is no surprise Halflings may only be of a "good" alignment in EQ2. Call me crazy, but an evil Hobbit foaming at the mouth mindlessly attacking women and children in virtual streets sounds damn fun…but alas it is not meant to be….you’re destined to be a fat smiling hobbit who consistently hails other members of society with a hearty "Hi Ho!" (After writing this piece, I’m seriously considering being an evil Ratonga)

Hobbits also have a special skill called "Infravision", which grants them the ability to see things much like soldiers do with their cool nightvision goggles. So in summary, Hobbits are short, sure of foot, quick, and have no trouble bounding about in the dark. To me, this makes for a perfect thief…..but in EQ2 they’re just called a "scout".
