Crafting Pristine Items After The Patch (EQ2 Gold)

April 20th, 2008

Here’s a quick couple pieces of info that i’ve used to craft pristine armor 100% of the time, even armor that cons yellow 2 levels higher than me.

1. Use only durability buffs. Spam them from the beginning. For armor its easiest to spam the one that raises durability a great amount while reducing success chance a little. This way I don’t burn through my power bar during the craft.

2. Get into a rhythm. You wanna be hitting a buff every tick. But you also wanna be hitting it just before a the chance reactions pop up for you to counter. If you can get it timed to where you’re hitting the buff 2 seconds before one of the reactions come up it will give you plenty of time to react properly and not screw up your rhythm.

3. If things start going wrong from the start CANCEL. If you lose half the durability on your pristine scale before you’ve crafted a crude item then cancel. All you’ll lose is your fuel which as an armorer is between 6 and 18 copper depending on which recipe. Only craft to finish the ones you get a good start on.

4. Throw an extra buff in at the right time. It seems that since the new patch you can’t spam all 3 skills at once anymore. I’ve tried it and it almost always ends up in failure. I suggest to have 1 skill going at all times. Now, when you have to counter an event it seems like the buff you press doesn’t count count towards your limit of 1 buff per tick. What I mean is that when I counter an event right after pressing the counterbuff I use another buff and I always get a massive increase in progress and durability. If you do this with the right timing you will gain from both buffs and get +15 or more durability that tick.

5.Switch it up. When things are starting to look glum on the pristine craft, particularly when trying to get that last quarter of the craft done, throw your buff in that increases success chance. Several times toward the end of the craft I will get 2 or 3 ticks in a row that result in failures and durability -35. If I switch to my success chance buff 95% of the time my next tick results in durability stablizing or gaining. When it gains again, I switch back to my original buff and spam until complete.

Hope this helps
