Hints For Betraying (Everquest 2 Movie)
October 10th, 2009List any other hints you can think of:
1. EMPTY your shared bank slots. Do this BEFORE you start the Quest. Do no forget this step. Had had 4 maple boxes in the shared slots of my "Good" character. I created a Troll and began the betrayal quest. (The troll had items in his shared slot as well.) When I finished the Quest and entered Qeynos, I went to the bank and discovered that the maple boxes were gone. The game over-wrote the boxes with the satchels in the Trolls shared slots. So… just to be safe empty your shared slots on both the good side AND the bad side prior to beginning the Betrayal quest.
2. Gather all items from your Room and place them in the bank. Do this BEFORE starting the quest. While the quest is being done you cannot enter EITHER city freely. Which means no access to a room, the bank…ect. So. Get all room items and then RELINQUISH ownership of the room. When you gain citizenship to your new city you can then get a new room (still free of charge) and move your items from the bank to your new residence.
2a. Point of note just in case you hadn’t figured this out: Certain races begin in specific regions. Good Barbarians, for example, begin in Graystone in Qeynos. This is NOT where your room must be. Let me repeat that. You do NOT have to live in the starting section of the game. If you already have a room in, say, Graystone just get your items from the room and then relinquish it. Move to the new part of town where you wish to live and buy a room at the Inn there. It’s STILL free. For those of you betraying, same thing. When you betray and use your recall spell for the first time the game will place you in your new starting section. Just go to the section you wish to live in, say Castleview for example, and purchase your room there instead.
3. LEAVE any tradeskill guilds you belong to. Do this BEFORE starting the Betrayal quest. You can belong to 2 organizations at level 10 crafter. If you belong to a Wholesaler AND a craft guild you must leave them BOTH before betraying. Don’t forget this step.
4. Make arrangements to be living in the wild for some time:
A. Get a map of the new land you’re going to (Commonlands or Antonica) and know where the merchants and the Mender are at. Since you can’t enter either city while doing the quest, you need to be able to sell and mend your equipement in the wild.
B. Research Quests: Find out what quests are available in the new land. The betrayal quest requires a LOT of running around, and down time while waiting for Spawns. Use this time and the fact that you’re already running around to get quests completed for XP, items and money. When you first get to the new land, run around to all the NPCs / items in that land with quests and obtain the quests. Now you can complete these quests WHILE doing the betrayal quest. Example: Going from Freeport to Qeynos requires killing a LOT of Gnolls. There are quite a few quests available which require the killing of Gnolls. Thus, if I have 5 quests that require me to kill a gnoll I get FIVE seperate credits from every single gnoll I kill. Research is your friend.
C. Next, take a LOT of backpacks with you. Fill all of your slots with the largest backpacks you can afford. With no access to a Bank you don’t want to have to destroy valuable quest items while running around. There are items in the game which are worthless when you first get them, but become extremely valuable once you obtain certain quests. For example: Gnoll parts: Eye, Ear, Tail…ect. It would SUCK ASS if you had to destroy these items to make room for sellable stuff only to obtain the proper quest later and have to RE-HUNT for these semi-rare drops. Another example is Adept books. KEEP THESE. They sell and trade very well for the ones YOU either need now, or will at higher levels.
D. Get the best armor and weapon(s) you can before starting the quest. You will have a LOT of fighting to do so make sure you’re prepared. You won’t have access to a Broker until the quest is completed so you’re pretty well stuck with what you start with.
E. Be prepared for fustration. As mentioned above, waiting for Spawn times can be VERY irritating. The quest is MUCH nicer with a group of friends that share your patience. If they aren’t prepared to sit with you and wait for certain spawns then they might as well not "help" you at all. It sucks to have a nice group to take down that boss guy only to have them disband and move on 5 minutes before he pops up. Now you’re sitting there alone knowing you CAN’T solo him and by the time your friends get back some other jackass has killed YOUR quest mob. (We apologize the the bitter taste of that last line.) That being said, this quest is VERY involved. And without the help of others you will NOT be able to complete it. Be prepared.
F. Make DAMN sure you really want your "good" Warrior to be Ratonga. Here’s the thing: I absolutely LOVE EQ2s stance on Any Race / Any Class. LOVE it. And I’ve seen people taking advantage of the "novelty" of certain combinations. My example above being the Ratonga Warrior. Ratongas only start with 10 Strength which effects Damage, carrying capacity AND special move power for the Warrior. Needless to say, this puts the Ratonga at a very distinct disadvantage at the start. If you play an EVIL warrior then you have plenty of time to change your mind later and re-roll a different choice. However, after going through all the trouble of the Betrayal quest to make your Rat a good guy… you will NOT want to destroy that character and will be pretty well stuck with your choice. So again, make SURE you’ve put a lot of thought into your race/class combo.
G. Be prepared for some fun if you play an "Obviously" good or evil race. If you show up in Antonica / Qeynos with a Troll then EVERYONE will know you had to Betray. People WILL poke fun at you. Don’t get offended and become a jackass. It’s all in fun. Learn, instead, to throw shots back. That little gnome mentions how bad your Ogre smells… tell him how GOOD he smells, and how your belly just started to grumble.
