How To Craft In EQ2

June 12th, 2007

I am writing this as i have not seen anyone make a post about crafting in EQ2 that is any more than a very basic crafting guide.

I was able to get to level 10 crafting in about 2-4 hours. This was about my third time through as i did it in beta and once more with my main, so by the time i got to my alt it was fairly quick. I am not going to go into how to get the resources that is fairly basic and any info you may need about this is in the manual.

General Crafting Tips

You will have 27 different symbols or buffs that you can use to counteract things when you are crafting, there will be three per type of crafting.
If you mouse over the recipe in you book it will tell you what type of crafting it is which will lead you to the proper responses for the type of crafting.
If you wish to level quickly never make the same thing twice.
You recieve almost double the exp the first time you make something, so if it gives you 20% normally the first time you make it you would get 40%
The harder the item is for you to make the more exp you will get.
You will get more exp for a pristine item compared to a shaped item.
Use at least one buff per roll, there are usually two buffs that use very little power and one that uses a fair ammount.

Level’s 1 - 9

If you are going to be a serious crafter you will complete up to level 9 on the Isle of Refuge. . Therefore at these low level’s with so many recipies unless you are making something you want to use you can gain more exp by creating different things and level yourself faster. You can gain a level by making two or three pieces of elm furniture each level, or anything else you may wish to make.
These levels go quickly

Level’s 10 - 19

You will recieve three new buffs, try them out but compare them to your old one’s for the first few levels you may do better with the original buffs.
When you reach level 12 or sometimes earlir you are able to learn the books from the other three proffesions, ie if you took scholar you can learn the outfitter book and crafstman level 10 books.
Here you have chosen your specialty and are working towards your last specialization. For each level from now on you will recieve fewer new recipies however always try to make one of each item for every level for that exp bonus. For the first few levels you will be able to level by making one of each item or not even all of them. By level 17 it starts to become a bit of a grind. however once you reach 20 you get the reward of your final specialization and can start to make some good money.

Level’s 20 and beyond …

Here is where crafting get’s expensive and much more difficult, crafting becomes much more interdependent on other crafting proffesions. You will need items from many other crafting proffessions that you cannot make yourself.

Hope this helps people who were looking to get going in the crafting buisness.
