Make Items in Your House Float (EQ2 Shaman)

March 19th, 2011

First Get a random item and place it somewhere in your house (table would probly be best). Second get another item (i dont know if it has to be smaller or larger than the item you are placing it on) and place it on the first item. Remove the first item from under the second item. And Voila! You have a floating thingamabob!

I used a table and i put a chest on it then removed the table and had a floating chest. You can experiment with this.

Oh yeah and im not sure if it will still be floating if you go out of your room then come back in. Could someone test this out for me?

Freely Visit Opposing City! (Everquest 2 scout)

March 16th, 2011

Ever get kicked out of the opposing city by those nasty ol’ guards?

Well, no more!

If you draw your weapon, the guards will not boot you from city.
Easiest way to do this is to still sneak in to where you want to go using the standard ways.
As soon as another player walks by, attack them. Of course you are not attacking but it puts you in attack mode.
Now you can move to that inn room or vendor without worrying about getting kicked outside by guards!
As long as you keep weapon drawn!

This is actually fun!

Get to CT (in ferrotte) faster (Everquest 2 Server Status)

March 14th, 2011

Obvious to those that hunt in CT often, but many people don’t.

When you’re running through Ferrotte, once you get to the river, you can just kill yourself, and you’ll be revived right by the doors of CT. Saves a good amount of time, becuase it’s a pretty long run, and debt is next to nothing now.

Soapweed, Great Profits (Everquest 2 Spells)

March 9th, 2011

A little thing i discovered as i was surfing the market(Broker).

Try searching the broker at lvl 10 for soapweed and buy it in bulk, It sells for about 2cp+.. Then purchase your common (aerated mineral water) and Candles and craft away the night either at the keyboard manually or macro… whatever you prefer.. have yet to macro overnight making soapweed emulsion at lvl 10.. Just thought i would throw that out there for everyone who might be in need of a easier grind to lvl crafting..

Try it with other gathered parts look them up through the broker and buy them in bulk and just repeat the process.

Easy money with ChloroOil (Everquest 2 UI)

March 5th, 2011

This isn’t an exploit, but rather something they messed up when coding i believe. All you need is :

1 candle

2 roots

1 distilled water

1 Fillament

Use the candle, water, and a root to make ChloroOil. Go over and yse the root, the ChloroOil, and fillament to make Threadbare Thread. This item sells for 1 silver 7 copper.

So, at 7c per candle, water, and fillament, and taking the time to dig up 2 roots nets you in about 1s per. I say 1s because if you make a pristine ChloroOil, you get 4 uses from it. This is an error in the pricing system and I’m sure it will be fixed soon. Get it while its hot.

Dont Select Trade Subclass! Tradeskill Exploit! (Eq2 traders)

March 2nd, 2011

Dont know if this is posted yet….

My gnome is level19 scholar (cant go any higher… Maxed my to like 200% :) before I went to chose my subclass for SnG’s I tried to scribe a Tier 3 essentials for woodworking..

It WORKS for me.. I suspect this will work for ALL classes as well, you need to find otheres that can go into the tradeskill instance and buy the scroll for you..
Can anyone else CONFIRM?

After you’ve scribed all Tier 3 essentials not relating to your level… THEN CHOOSE YOUR SUBCLASS.

We’re in luck right now… I work near SOE HQ and it’s a graveyard! The devs wont be back untill next year (3-4th) so Better jump on this quick for your UBER crafter before SOE nerfs it…

PS… As a side note I’ve started brokering essential scrolls from my scholar for 20s each.. There selling like hotcakes every night… Now I know why.. :-P

Innes’ Everquest 2 Craftsman Tier 2 Fishing Income Tutorial (Eq II)

February 28th, 2011

This tutorial covers how to become self sufficient in providing a steady income for your Craftsman Artisan, and more specifically in Freeport although also applies to Queynos. It requires that you have chosen to be a craftsman and are at least level 13. As far as I have found out this is the best way to earn a profit without having to deal with the broker and other player merchants at Tier 2, although it does require gathering resources this can also be a welcome break from the tradeskill instances’ scenery as we all know is extremely tedious, it also takes a little amount of time. It also gives you a chance to go for a nice swim, and doesnt take too long so your skin won’t go wrinkly.

So you have just hit level 13 and are a craftsman, well done. Now this method to becoming self sufficient is good because it involves gathering resources that are abundant and easy to find, fish, it also gives a good profit and is self sufficient because you do not have to rely on such other classes as the outfitter or scholar to provide materials/ingredients. When you hit 13 you will need to purchase the Craftsman Essentials Volume 13, I found this book at the Crimson Framers Society, Scale Yard, Freeport.

Gathering the Resources:

You will need to start fishing and get your skills up to 40 in order to be able to fish tier 2 resources. This is very easy, in Freeport I would reccomend the Sunken City. Just zone in via the Mariner Bell take your shoes off and jump in the water. You should find at least 8 groups of fish to harvest from. Harvest them all, either wait or zone out and zone in to a different instance and repeat. I seem to see no-one fishing so far in my experience of Everquest 2, maybe its just my server, I feel its a greatly underappreciated resource that is easily found and very abundant. Soon you should be up to 40 you can check this by pressing L on the keyboard as a shortcut.

Head to the Commonlands or Queynos equivalent where there are tier 2 resources. In the Commonlands there is a river which is a good source of fish, there is also a landmark called the Dog Pond. The Dog Pond is an excellent place for fish has usually around 10-12 bands of fish. From these you get Crab Meat, Cichlid Fish and Freshwater Grouper. You can either again wait for the resources to respawn or go to another instance. In no time you should have a good number of stacks of each, time to head to the Tradeskills Instance.

Time for Crafting:

Fortunately all this raw ingredients need the two submaterials to create a edible dish. These are coal (the fuel) and spice. You can either make the spice yourself or buy it from the trade merchant but costs you more than crafting it yourself. Its up to you, would you rather save time or save profit? Most of you do not have time to burn so buying the spice would be a good idea, perhaps using the broker to find it cheaper is another option. Using these two sub-ingredients (coal and spice) you can now craft away. Since you should be level 13 at this point I hope that you know about the tradeskills however, here is a short overview for this tutorial.

The tradeskills used for cooking are:

Awareness —> Realization

Constant Heat —> Slow Simmer

Seasoning —> Spice Up

You can find these by clicking on the knowledge pane and dragging them to your quickbar menu numbered 1-10. I would advise this as it allows you to quickly counter setbacks you will come across when crafting. When a setback occurs an icon appears in you crafting panel and you should select the corresponding icon on the taskbar to counter this problem. If you do not you may lose either, health, power or progress on your item. Realization, Slow simmer and Spice up are all upgraded versions (Tier 2) of Awareness, Constant Heat and Seasoning (they also bear the same icons) and I would reccomend using these as they are much more efficient add more progress and also increase durability at the cost of more power.

With this you should be able to craft Baked Grouper, Crab Meat and Chichlid Steak. These all sell for 1s at the merchant trader. You only need to craft the 3rd class of each one to gain 1s, pristine offers no more in the amount of final product you receive or price. Savoury or bland of each offer only 37c for each. The crafting itself is not too difficult, and the Spice Macro floating about on Multiplayerstrategies can be adapted to create these three foods.

Doing the Math:

The important part, money. If you had time you crafted your own spice, all I can say is you’ve either got alot of time on your hands or your very dedicated!
To create one spice cost coal, salt and pepper each at 6c. Thus, total price you paid for spice was 18c. If you, like me, was a tiny bit lazy and bought the spice you paid 35c.
Therefore by crafting your own spice not only do you gain xp for doing so but you save yourself 17c in the process.

By harvesting the resources which are easy to find and quite abundant you have saved yourself alot of money and effort. Trying to find these resources on the broker at reasonable prices on my server is impossible, If you do though by all means go for it, I believe in the long run going out and fishing will save you money and increase profit.

Without Crafting your own Spice:

Coal, 6c. + Spice 36c. + Raw Material. = 42c

Profit per final crafted item sold = 58c

A stack of final crafted item sold’s profit = 58c x 20 = 11s 60c

With Crafting your own Spice:

Coal 6c + Crafted Spice 18c + Raw Material = 24c

Profit per final crafter item sold = 66c

A stack of final crafted item sold’s profit = 66c x 20 = 13s 20c

Conclusion:

So if you make 10 stacks which is feasible seeing as the resource is abundant you can earn yourself at minimum 1g 10s in profit. Granted its not a quick rich scheme but it is one that will not get changed by SOE. Bugs will come and go but when the do go this is just a strategy to fall back on. Using an adapted spice macro for the crafting is an interesting choice. It certainly takes the effort from the crafting side of things and would only require you to go gathering for a short amount of time to get a few stacks of each and then macro it over night waking up to a nice profit. For me it took about 10 minutes to gather 20 of each raw material, no-one went near the Dog Pond in the Commonlands but perhaps that is just my server

Greets go the MPS commuinity! Nympunk on Runnyeye Server.

Heroic Opportunities FAQ (Eq2 macros)

February 25th, 2011

A detailed explanation of heroic opportunities below:

Opportunity Icons
Think of opportunity icons as the links in a chain, which ultimately band together and allow for a strong entity. When it comes to heroic opportunities, these icons represent the links, while the opportunity itself is the chain (I kicked some serious ass in the analogy section of my SAT test).

Any individual magical spell or combat art utlized in the heat of battle has a specific icon associated with that skill. During combat these icons will flash on screen when you have started a combination of attack maneuvers which allows you to begin building this "chain", when properly executed you can trigger a heroic opportunity, causing great harm to your opponent, or an opportunity which greatly benefits your group!

There are 4 specific types of icons, one for each archetype.

Fighter (blue)
Sword
Shield
Horn
Fist
Boot
Flexed arm

Priest (gold)
Chalice
Holy Symbol
Hammer
Eye
Moon
Druidic Stones

Scout (green)
Dagger
Bow
Mask
Lock
Cloak
Coin

Mage (red)
Wand
Lightning
Tome
Staff
Fire
Star

A sequence of icons represented on screen will guide you in completing a heroic opportunity. This icon sequence appears in the lower right hand corner of your screen during combat.

Beginning a starter chain
To trigger a heroic opportunity chain, you will need to start off the chain with one of the following skills for each specific race:

Fighter – Fighting Chance
Scout – Lucky Break
Mage – Arcane Augur
Priest – Divine Providence

- None of these abilities drain mana or power, and are cast immediately. However, there is a 10 second delay between each cast making heroic opportunities extremely difficult to pull of more than once in any one combat sitting.

After casting this initial spell or initiating the specific combat skill, an icon of that specific skill will appear on yoru screen, followed by other icons you’ll need to use to continue the chain. If you don’t possess the next icon, you simply aren’t ready to complete the heroic opportunity……..or you may need to be in a group with another partner who happens to possess that ability.

That being said even in the early stages of the game, even on the Island of Refuge there are heroic opportunities which can be pulled off solo, or in a group. So keep tinkering around a bit and you’ll find some devastating combos allowing you to drop high level opponents with ease.

Advancing the Starter Chain

When you have initially begun a chain, any misuse of the next skill will break the chain, resulting in a failed opportunity. This holds true when soloing, or in a group. So if you successfully launch an initial attack which begins the chain, ensure you communicate to other members in your group to launch the next spell which lengthens the chain. Misuse of specific skills at this stage can break the starter chain. In a group, a keymashing "newbie" can be quite a hinderance to success. Coordination and communication are key to successully executing these initial "starter" chains.

Completing a Starter Chain

Once you’ve fully "built" the chain in a heroic opportunity, the initial caster and/or group is presented with an option from which to launch the opportunity. A list will appear on screen allowing you to choose which opportunity you’d like to launch a common, uncommon or rare opportunity.

Completing an Opportunity of Heroic Stature

After initially launching a heroic opportunity chain, the next link in the chain, or "icon" will flash for 30 seconds. During this period you, or any member of your group who uses this skill will advance the chain.

Using an incorrect skill will not completely cancel the opportunity, however you do have a time limit in which you MUST use the next skill in the chain……30 seconds. If a specific link is not added during this period the entire opportunity will vanish, and you will need to start again.

"Shifting" a Heroic Opportunity

Each successfully built opportunity has the ability to be "shifted" to another type of opportunity. Each opportunity has a specific "shift" icon associated with it: the coin. Scouts may use combat arts with that specific "coin" symbol, which allows them to shift the current chain to a different heroic opportunity.
